Threonine Exports Up 19% in Jan-April 2022

China has huge production capacity of threonine (fermentation), and the largest producer, Meihua Bio, has more than 300,000 tons of threonine capacity alone. The capacity release is obvious in these years, and the export volume also maintains a high growth rate.
Keynovo statistics based on data published by the Chinese National Customs show that
From January to April 2022, the export volume of threonine (feed grade) increased by 19.04% year-on-year to more than 216,000 tons.
The export price of threonine (feed grade) rose all the way from 2020 to a record high in May 2021. It has fluctuated in the subsequent 1 year, but is still at a historically high level. Benefiting from the price increase, the export value also increased significantly y-o-y. From January to April 2022, the export value increased by 48.03% y-o-y to over USD 360 million.
Domestic threonine export destination countries are still concentrated in the Netherlands, Russia, Brazil, Belgium, Spain, 5 countries. 2021 year, exports to these 5 countries are more than 29,000 tons. 2022 January-April exports to these 5 countries are more than 10,000 tons, including exports to the Netherlands more than 26,000 tons.
From the data of Keynovo statistics, the export volume in these 5 years keeps a new step in 2 years: in 2018-2019, the annual export volume is more than 400,000 tons; in 2020-2021, the annual export volume is more than 500,000 tons. And in 2022, the export volume from January to April exceeds 216,000 tons, and the whole year is expected to hit a new height of 600,000 tons, while the export value is expected to exceed USD 1 billion.
